What is Spark Energy?
Some 5 years ago, whilst building a company in the property management industry and being a tenant himself our Founder, PJ Darling, (that’s not him in the photo) realised that none of the utility companies had a dedicated service for residential tenants or for the agents that manage rental properties. So being an entrepreneur he decided to build one.
The vision hasn’t changed since the start - namely to be the most customer focused energy retailer in the UK by bringing together smart people and smart technology so that we become the supplier of choice to our customers.
So how did we plan to go about it? Simple. By taking the hassle out of utility bills for tenants whilst offering a great price and taking on the hassle of managing utility services for property managers.
Spark is always a work in progress as there’s always room for improvement but over the last few years we’ve managed to put in place some unique services that hopefully you’ll find have helped us deliver on our vision.
Moving home is a busy time and providing meter readings or remembering to close your utility account is low on the list of priorities. We make it easier by installing smart meters in every property where we can gain access so that customers don’t have to provide meter readings and for that matter neither do the property agents if the tenant forgets. In addition to ensuring accurate bills it also happens to make our job easier as we don’t have to go around every house getting a meter reading so everybody wins. And all this at no charge to the customer.
People hate having to wait to get their final bill to find out if they owe or are owed money so we built a dedicated Change of Tenancy team and built them some slick software. They make sure your house move is as simple as possible by closing your account and issuing you with a final bill, all within 14 days of letting us know.
As tenants tend to stay in properties for shorter periods of time we were asked to ensure that they were never too much in debit or credit when they moved out. The solution? Seasonal Direct Debit. This ensures that no matter what time of year, you’re always paying for what you use. If you’d rather pay a flat amount you can do that too by opting for Flat Direct Debit. The choice is yours.
