This is our pet project, the one we’re quietly excited about. Let’s say you live in a small town in North West England called Empsham and you have a local source of renewable energy such as “wood off-cuts” produced as waste when saw mills clean the trees they cut down. These “off-cuts” can be turned into briquettes (compressed into small pellets) which can then be used to fuel a furnace which produces heat. The heat is then used to generate electricity and any excess heat can be used to heat buildings or houses within the immediate vicinity of the generator. This is how we create “Empsham Energy”.

The nice part of all of this is that we employ local people to manage the whole process and provide very inexpensive electricity to the local community. Even better, we’re using a renewable fuel resource that would otherwise be burned as waste (producing a lot of carbon emissions) or dumped in a landfill. Seems simple doesn’t it? That’s what we thought.

We’re working with communities that have locally available, renewable resources so that we can begin making a quantifiable difference. If you’re interested in introducing this concept to your community, click here to find out how.
